Board Meeting May 6th, 2014

In Attendance: Rob, Ted, Walbran, Markus, Owen, Ryan, Ron, James, Shawn, Rocket, Solo, Debra, Tyler, Steve, Chance, Sue, Ken, Bonez

Agenda

1 ) Welcome
2 ) Finances
3 ) Cannabis Digest
4 ) MMPR
5 ) Reach For the Pot
6 ) Student Clubs
7 ) Internet – Further meeting for internet on Tues May 27th, 2014
8 ) Movie Night
9 ) Cheech and Chong

1 ) All welcomed. Meeting called to order. Joints sparked.

2 ) Hempology 101's finances are pretty hurting but donations for the Cannabis Digest are helping it along. Revenue from advertising hasn't come in as of yet, which has been very frustrating. Hempology will not be paying any new writers for the Digest as there is now a solid team of writers contributing both paid and unpaid work, and as of yet there is no need to expand. As of May 6th we have made our first $1.14 in online advertising money. Ted announces plans for on-line advertising campaign, which is expected to bring in more revenue for the club. Andrew and a few other writers have yet to be paid, and Ted has not been paid since February. The 420 celebration brought in 360$ in t-shirts and miscellaneous sales. Book sales have been slow, even in the wake of the publicity of Kid Cannabis. It is frustrating that while Ted and the book were both shown in the movie, no mention was given in the closing credits.

3 ) More advertising has been coming in for the Digest. Hopefully there will be 28 pages of content for the next issue. Ted announces new feature in the Digest which will feature two sides of a chosen topic, open to submissions from other writers along with our core group. The feature will be comprised of two columns, each one supporting a different side of the chosen argument. Ted also announces the addition of blogs to the Cannabis Digest website as of June 1st. This is an attempt to bring the Cannabis Digest into the modern age, so to speak. Though Ted originally wanted to be publishing two blog posts per day, he has determined that it was an unrealistic goal, and has settled for a core group of writers to be posting one blog post per week each, hopefully adding up to a post per day. The Cannabis movement is exploding right now so it is the perfect opportunity for us to make the CD grow. Dieter just re-vamped the format for the forums. Ron needs more help with distribution of the paper copies of the digest.

4 ) The for the MMPR Injunction was filed on April 1st, but no court date has been set other than Feb. 23rd, 2015, which will be another hearing in Vancouver on a separate suit. The appeal is that patients cannot continue to grow until the hearing in 2015, but since there have been no court dates as of yet, this ruling has yet to take effect. The new program is really jumbled as in seems to favour those who seek to use pot for profit. There is encouragement for patients to file separate injunctions.

5 ) RFTP – First update given by Rocket and Markus. Things are going well thus far and the crowd for the game show gets larger with each passing week. The fact that the game show is now being co-hosted seems to be a promising change, as it looks as though it will make it easier to write a formula for making the show work that may be shared with other clubs. Ted will donate shirts to the winning team of the tournament, and it is imperative that anyone looking to be a part of the tournament signs up before Cannabis Day (July 1st) of 2014.

6 ) No more 420's up at UVIC after the end of April. UBC's club is moving along at their own speed, completely autonomous from the club, run by students. Medicine Hat reports that they had a successful 420, and are continuing to thrive as well.

7 ) There is a ton of stuff happening on-line right now. Tuesday May 27th, we will be having a meeting in the atrium of the BC Ferries building at 5 p.m., four days before the blogs are released on the Cannabis Digest website. The meeting will be a brainstorm to figure out how to improve our ability to better implement our resources for online cannabis activism. The Hempology 101 store is one thing that definitely needs to be pushed more on-line. The new Hempology Twitter account will help get the daily blogs out, but we want to draw all the traffic to the Cannabis Digest webpage. Dieter has slimmed down the Forums, making them more efficient and streamlined. This is a rare moment in the history of hempology.

8 ) We are showing Kid Cannabis on Sunday, May 25th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Club at 826 Johnson St. Open to anyone that has attended a board meeting in the last year

9 ) Cheech and Chong coming to Victoria in two weeks, A couple people are needed to hand out issues of the Digest out front of the venue. Inquire within to volunteer your time.

Hempology 101 Board Meeting Tuesday June 3rd 2014

Attendance: Steve, Ron, Judith, James, Bill, Ravit, Walbran, Ted, Rocket, Tyler, Chance, Ryan, Cheyenne, Howie, Shawn, Naomi, Markus

Agenda

1 ) Welcome
2 ) Finances
3 ) Cannabis Digest
4 ) Team 420
5 ) Cannabis Day
6 ) Reach for the Pot
7 ) Student clubs
8 ) Products

1 ) Everyone welcomed and joints sparked.

2 ) Its been dismal this month but has taken an upswing due to advertising revenue from the Digest and its website. We received $800 from Digest advertising and $600 form online advertising from Crop King Seeds. Some checks have also come in from other clients and book sales. Ted finally received his paycheck and we have enough to print the next issue of the digest. Blogs with daily content are going to boost internet revenue on the Digest website. Fuzzy will be returning as bookkeeper for the club so we will be able to see our finances in writing soon.

3 ) The Digest has signed 3 more pages of advertising which brings it up to 28 pages. With the blogs we have a never ending source of content. The distribution has been going really well. And with Canada Day coming we will be shipping issues across the country. Judith and Owen have been performing well since taking over. Cover art for the paper is lined up.

4 ) There will be a separate meeting involving Team 420, on June 26th @ 5pm at the BC Ferries atrium. Team420.ca could possibly generate more revenue. Team 420 has the potential to represent the cause at community events. "HERB" needs some repairs before we can start sending him out for photo opportunities. Ted eventually wants to create a Team 420 sports lounge.

5 ) Next board meeting will be July 8th not on the first due to it being on Cannabis day. James will be in charge of the hotbox, Rocket and Markus will have a game of RFTP with the possibility of a dodgeball game but more on that at the meeting.

6 ) RFTP is going well and the reason the game show was made was for the pure fun of it. The Redbeard Glass gathering may be host to an ALL Star game of RFTP.

7 ) Not much to talk about as far as clubs is concerned. UBC has been having continuing 420s every week.

8 ) We have received the donation of a You-do silkscreen for making t- shirts. We need to know more about the cost of running the machine before we talk about who gets to use it. People should keep an eye out for plain t- shirts the club can use.

4 ) Reach for the Pot
5 ) James' resignation
6 ) Products
7 ) Student clubs
8 ) Cheech and Chong

1 ) everyone welcomed and joints are sparked.

2 ) We've had enough revenue come in this month to print the Digest and to pay Ted. More and more advertising is coming in. We will have an extra $500 coming in each month due to 2 online advertisers. Book sales are still slow.

3 ) The digest will be expanding up to 28 pages in the next issue with a lot of hard work from Owen. There has been a great improvement and there is still room for more growth which hopefully brings us up to 36 pages. More and more advertising and the content is growing and getting better with the addition of the online blogs. The next issue will be out tomorrow. Thanks again to Ron for all his work with the distribution. The editing of this issue went well according to Judith.

4 ) RFTP is going through a various series of transitions. The wrong people were put in charge originally. We have a couple of new hosts in Ravit and Chuck. Its been decided to have the game show once a month and just regular circles the other weeks. The 2 co - producers are going to be Ron and Steve. Tomorrow night we will be having our annual contest night.

5 ) James resignation was accepted by the board with a nomination from Steve and a second from Ted. Bill put forth the nomination of Ted to step back up as President and was seconded by James therefore the motion is passed and Ted is now President.

6 ) Not too much going on with products.

7 ) UBC is expected to take right off this year with the students of that club taking full control. We are looking for volunteers to man the booth up at Clubs days at UVIC on September 17 & 18th.

8 ) Cam got us a table inside for the show with Ted being allowed to be the only one in our group that will be inside. We are going to be having a smoke out in centen after the show.
